I endorse the following statement from the Stop the Labour Purge campaign.
To read why I voted on the Momentum Steering Committee to remove Jackie as Vice Chair, but also proposed to strongly oppose her suspension from the Labour Party (but was defeated), see my statement here.
“Stop the Purge condemns the suspension of Momentum steering committee member Jackie Walker from the Labour Party and calls for her to be reinstated.
“STP supporters have differing views on the controversy in Momentum, but we are united in opposing the attack on Jackie by the Labour Party machine.
“Within the broad framework of labour movement values, disagreements, even serious ones, should be dealt with by discussion and debate, not bans and exclusions. In any case, this is clearly part of the continuing war the party bureaucracy is waging against the left and the democratic rights of the membership.”
