About me

I’m a socialist, labour movement, feminist and NHS activist based in Lewisham, South London. In August-September 2015 I was one of the co-founders of the Lewisham for Corbyn group, which became part of the new Labour left movement Momentum. In early 2016 I was elected Lewisham Momentum chair, a Lewisham delegate to the London Momentum regional network and then to the Momentum national and steering committees.

I set up this blog in order to publish regular updates and reports from what is going on Momentum and on its leading committees, as well as some more general political commentary no doubt. I’d be pleased to hear from you: jillmountford@rocketmail.com

I have been active as a class-struggle socialist since the early 1980s. My main campaigning work over the last few years has been around the NHS, as an activist and organiser in the Save Lewisham Hospital campaign and in initiatives around Labour and the NHS.

In February 2016 I was expelled from the Labour Party, as part of the witch-hunt against left activists. Momentum is campaigning for my reinstatement.

I am a supporter of the ideas and campaigning work of the socialist organisation Workers’ Liberty.
